International Academic Exchange Office at the Graduate School of Engineering

photo The International Academic Exchange Office aims at providing a truly open space mainly for international students, but it also aims at making it possible for foreign researchers and Japanese students to make use of the room at ease. The international students, Japanese students and foreign researchers may make free use of the lounge room of 57 square meters. The facilities available include computers that have OS of major languages (English, Chinese, Korean and so on) already installed, television, VCRs, cassette recorders, foreign newspapers, magazines and so on. In the lounge room, foreigners and Japanese may exchange daily and mutual information, and the door is also open to Japanese students looking for information on study abroad.

The international student advisor's room ( 28m² ) next to the lounge room serves as a consulting room where privacy is secured. In this room are located three international student advisors with degrees in Engineering and one international student advisor with a degree in Education who also functions as the chief advisor (hired on June 1, 2000). These advisors take turns giving counsel on a variety of aspects from research problems to everyday problems. Seminars, lectures and parties are held regularly for the purpose of offering international exchange information.
